Proposal for additional speed cushion

Written 12/01/05

The County Council is proposing to install a cushion at the village entrance from Cambourne on Brockley Road.

At this village entry point there is a great distance between the central island and the build-out because of the entry road to Avenue Farm Business park. The County has monitored the traffic and agreed that it is simply not slowing down at this place. In addition, traffic is travelling into the village very fast and on the wrong side of the road, which is potentially very dangerous. The other entry features to the village are successful as the central island is near the build out (as it should be) and traffic entering the village has to stop or give way.

The County Council is proposing to install an additional cushion opposite the build-out to stop traffic speeding and going on the wrong side of the road. This will not be outside any property as it is further up the road than the houses.

This is on the agenda of the planning meeting for 12th January.
